Information Sheets for the Bond Vote
The Greater Upper Valley Solid Waste Management District Board of Supervisors has made the difficult decision to delay construction of the landfill and bond in the primary election on August 24, 2010 for only enough funding ($875,000) to fully secure our asset by covering additional costs associated with the access improvements and construction of the I-91 bridge, both completed in 2009, and also begin to pay the debt service on the bridge. For more information on the background and history of this project see here, for frequently asked questions see here, and a proposed letter to the editor by Stephen Willbanks, chairman of the GUVSWD Board of Supervisors and Strafford representitive is here. Please feel free to contact our office or your local representitive for more information.

Electronics Recycling news!
More important news items on electronics recycling:
The Vermont Legislature has passed a Product Stewardship Electronics recycling bill. This is an exciting and important bill that will change the way electronics are collected in Vermont. There are several important parts to the bill - some of the highlights are:
- Electronics manufactures need to register with the State by July 1, 2010
- All electronic devices are landfill banned as of January, 2011
- A system to recycle computers, monitors, televisions, and CRTs at no charge to consumers will be in place by July, 2011.
Meanwhile, we will continue our regular electronics recycling programs at the same pricing until the new system is in place in 2011.
Sony has teamed up with our electronics recycler to offer free recycling for all Sony brand televisions. Bring your Sony TV to our office or special events for free recycling!
New Hampshire has updated their landfill ban on electronics to add VCR's, DVD players, and computer CPU's to the ban. Most of the trash from GUVSWD towns currently goes to Lebanon, NH so we need to keep these items out of the trash. We recycle all items with a cord, for a fee, at our office and recycling events. See the new VT electronic waste website at www.anr.state.vt.us/dec/e-waste/ for more details.
