Year-Round Services
GUVSWD collects the following materials year-round at the offices in North Hartland (Directions) from District residents. It is best to give us a call (296-3688) before you come, as we are a small staff and sometimes must leave the offices unattended. These collection programs are only available to District residents and businesses.
- Fluorescent light bulbs, compact fluorescents, HID bulbs (no charge to residents or businesses)
     To be recycled so the mercury doesn't enter the environment
- Thermostats and thermometers and other mercury-containing devices
     To keep mercury out of the waste stream. Get a free digital fever thermometer replacement while supplies last.
- Computers and other office electronics (fee applies)
     To be recycled and to keep this growing waste stream out of the landfill
- Rechargeable Batteries (no charge)
     Like many area retailers, we participate in the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation's (http://www.rbrc.org) take-back program.
- Packing peanuts (no charge)
     To be reused by area companies to ship their goods
The Hartford Recycling Center also collects some materials year-round. Offered to all District residents and Hartford residents with access permits (windshield stickers available for $17 at your town clerk or at GUVSWD offices)

- Lead-acid batteries
- Antifreeze
- And comprehensive trash and recycling
